[Macwoburn] email client for OS9?

hi,
AOL is increasing my monthly charge from $5/mo to $7/mo. Since i'm trying to 
pinch every penny, but I like the convenience of being able to do email 
offline (such as typing this email on the train), I was wondering if people had 
suggestions for 'mostly' free email clients for the Mac. my requirements are:
- I'm on OS 9.2
- ads are ok if necessary to reduce the cost
- free is preferred

(wife uses Hotmail, and I'm aware of the many others GMail, Yahoo, etc). I'm 
interested in using something like Outlook Express, etc WITH a service like 
hotmail (but I don't think you can with them). 
I found one at Macbox.Com for $30/yr.
