Hi,
I am very pleased to say that after initially contacting Macintosh
User Group leaders in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina, P.A.M.
Borys, a certified member of the Apple Consultants Network and
President of the MacWoburn User Group has been responsible for
spearheading the acquisition and distribution of Macintosh computers,
software, and peripherals to our southern neighbors. MacWoburn has
teamed up with Massachusetts-based Bridge to Biloxi whose member, Phil
Green, provided free shipment to Pittsburgh where fellow ACN and user
group leader, Dave Sevick was able to gather more computers, arrange a
distribution system, and provide final shipment to Katrina survivors.
This effort is ongoing and so I encourage you to do a bit of spring
cleaning in your office. We accept computers that run at least Mac OS
9 and are in good running order. Boxed and labeled computers and
peripherals may be dropped off at my home in Woburn, MA. If you're not
in my area, consider what a difference a free computer can make to
someone who has lost their home, job, and/or possessions and start up
a local effort to bring usable Macs to those in need.
Peace,
P.A.M. Borys
