Having been in both camps at various points, I think I can safely say it's not always about religion. Both camps have done things to piss off their user communities in the past... In both cases it may be that the distributions adopted software that was not ready for prime time, but an argument could as easily be made that the dev teams shouldn't have released it as stable software if that were true. In the past the Gnome desktop has been dumbed down too... I find myself missing FVWM more and more these days, but in the end I don't care as much about this stuff as I used to -- I mostly just want to get my work done. Gnome still seems faster and less resource intensive than KDE to me (albeit without having done any real analysis), so I stick with that. -- Derek D.
