very good.  if one attaches the argument -l to Args0,
Args1 etc in the profile, the right thing happens, as you
suggest.  however, varying that a bit, wanting to launch
a root window, i tried -c sh - root after Args0, expecting
it to execute and ask for a password, but it behaved just
as though i had put in -l.  odd.  this one is easy to live
with but i'm still curious.

probably not.  i know that an iso file system is generally
CD data while an ext3 file system is what i use on my linux
hard drive, though i'm not sure of the exact differences.
i just wasted a third dvd -- i dragged the fc6.iso icon
from / into the K3b dialog box for current projects,
producing:
  Name     Type                Size    Local Path   Link
  fc6.iso  ISO9660 image file  3.3GB   /fc6.iso

that looked fine to me -- it must know that i'm trying to
burn an iso image, so i put a disk in the drive, which
showed up in the upper box as Empty DVD-R Media, and
indicated 4.4GB available.  i punched burn and everything
went fine, indicated that 3.3GB was burned, the process
finished, etc. but the disk wouldn't mount.

still scratching my head, i finally noticed at K3b top
under tools -- Burn DVD ISO image -- wow, that looked like
what you had been trying to tell me!  i went that route,
burned the disk -- same result.  damn.  what next?
