my original problems:

finally downloaded FC2.  problem 1 disappeared never to return.
problem 2 disappeared for FC2-i386-disk[12], but reappeared
for FC2-i386-disk3.  however, i burned a second copy and
amazingly it went ok, so now i am in business (relatively).
thanks for the handholding.

sndconfig seems to be missing from the distribution, and
sound is definitely not configured.  is a replacement
lurking somewhere?

also, i notice that my netgear ma401 wireless ethernet
card is not recognized.  this worked on the ibmtp-600e
with no special actions on my part (that i remember).  in
addition, i have an intel pro/wireless 2011b which works
neither on the ibmtp or the compaq evo-n1015v.  any
thoughts on these?
