in trying to install rh9.0 on my recently acquired compaq evo N1015v i ran into some puzzling phenomina, and am essentially stymied. i install disk-1 in the cdrom drive, power up, get the boot prompt, type enter and the first of the graphical windows appears, asking me to select a language. i try to select english, but neither tab nor any of the arrow keys functions. if i remove ac power for an instant (pull the power plug and reinsert it) the keys function normally. i've repeated this sequence several times and it always works (as it were) in the same manner. strange. i select english and proceed along to the load-from-CDROM window, which i select and then get an error window saying that a linux cd was not found on any of my cdrom drives, please stick one in and retry. well, it's in there. i remove it, wipe it off, reinsert it, but never get beyond that window. windows xp, which was preinstalled, seems to function normally and read the cdrom fine. do i have a faulty machine or what? my rh9.0 disk set previously functioned normally for installations on two thinkpads. tia. dan j. daniel moylan 84 harvard ave #2 brookline, ma 02446-6202 617-232-2360 (tel) 810-454-1823 (fax) jdm@moylan.info www.moylan.info
