i've recently bought a compaq evo1015v, complete with windows xp, and thought that for the first time i might not blow away windows, but keep it around just to be able to check out some of my web sites via IE, etc. in looking to repartition, i noted in the blu discussion archives a recommendation from gaf to try qtparted on knoppix. so i duely downloaded the iso, burned a disk and tried booting from it on the "new" computer. the boot proceeded without incident until it finally hung with the message: INIT: cannot execute "/etc/init.d/xsession" i then tried the disk on my ibm tp600e and it booted fine. i also tried systemrescue, purported to contain qtparted, burned that disk, and it hung on both machines with the message: can't synthesize input events, /proc/bus/input/devices missing any suggestions? tia. dan j. daniel moylan 84 harvard ave #2 brookline, ma 02446-6202 617-232-2360 (tel) 810-454-1823 (fax) jdm@moylan.info www.moylan.info
