Well, I'll refer you to the dictionary definition of the word: compel - v. tr.: to drive or urge forcefully or irresistibly Is this not exactly what rms does? To urge forcefully? His campaign is relentless; if you say "Linux" generically while you're in a room with him, he WILL speak up and correct you, saying something to the effect of "you mean, 'GNU/Linux.'" Probably many here can attest to this. So, literally, anyone who uses 'GNU/Linux' has been compelled to do so, whether or not they do so willingly.
