I'll agree that this is a better solution for the reasons that you highlight, IF you trust your ISP, and are happy with the performance provided by their servers. I don't, and while I used them, I wasn't. Also, it does require more configuration, and for those not familiar with configuring it, and/or unwilling to learn, the default caching nameserver configuration is easier to set up and maintain.
