:)  No, you figured it out... the real problem is that getting this to
work (that is, gnome pilot + USB cradle) is excruciatingly painful,
and quite possibly utterly impossible depending on the version you have.
Note that RH 7.2 ships with gnome that's quite a bit older than what's
available from Ximian...

Your best bet is to use the command line pilot link utilities, which
work quite well.  Or try JPilot or the KDE utilities.  I'm not sure
about the status of those though; I use pilot-link.

(/dev/ttyUSB1 is the correct device file)
