i'm told that the thinkpad (380z) serial port is not usable
unless the infrared port is disabled.  my serial port does
not work.

i could find no way in the test/setup menues to disable the
infrared port, and have been told that one needs some special
utility.

can anyone verify this and tell me where to go to download
such a utility?  any help would be appreciated.
