getting serious.  have installed rh7.1 on second machine (thinkpad),
straight up, no firewall.  my machines are interconnected through
a netgear 4-port router.  set up the network params using control-
panel/networks.  did xhost +.  am able to ping to and from my desktop,
cannot telnet in.

telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

netscape gets out to the net ok.  desktop, also running rh7.1 has
the same problem.  at least i'm consistent.  rh6.2 on the thinkpad
(and desktop) worked fine.  i've slipped a cog.

any suggestions?
