My first upgrade failed and ended up reloading f38. Recently I upgraded a
hromebook to F39 and an 09Sonly laptop to F39 without error messages, The
original failure stopped recognizing the correct password.
 sudo dnf upgrade --refresh
I then followed this
> sudo dnf install dnf-plugin-system-upgrade
> sudo dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=39
> sudo dnf system-upgrade reboot
errors started here: gnome shell quit could not continue.
report processing failed. - element frames invalid and element missing.

i did not continue, I seem to have all my apps working. fed39 uptodate,
gnome 45.2

So- Should I do any of the following since I seem to be working? Arnie

> sudo dnf clean packagesDownload complete! Use 'dnf system-upgrade reboot'
to start the upgrade.
To remove cached metadata and transaction use 'dnf system-upgrade clean'
The downloaded packages were saved in cache until the next successful
transaction.
You can remove cached packages by executing 'dnf clean packages'
