max lun count and lun size for rhel

i need to know the maximum number of luns that can be presented via emulex
fibre cards to a rhel 4.3 server.
i keep reading different things...
max lun count is 255
then i read that that limit is for 2.4 kernels and unlimited for 2.6
kernels.

also, what is the maximum size of a single lun?
