Another one for Windows is SecureClean by White Canyon. This will
actually go in and remove data from already deleted files. Remember
that the way Windows deletes a file is strictly by marking the file
deleted in the directory.
The Linux file systems are much different, but the data still exists in
the free list. Note that shred(1) may not work properly on all file
systems.
