Utah normalized with the rest of the US law regarding monogamy when it
became a state. At that time, some mormons who refused to conform moved to
Mexico, where they were allowed to continue practicing polygamy. But
still, polygamy does exist in a sort of underground way in Utah.

As far as getting rid of Utah, there is a ground of people who refuse to
believe that it exists, having never been there.
