Make sure you're using SMTPS (SMTP + SSL) to outgoing.

I know that outgoing supports SMTPS+AUTH=GSSAPI (krb5)..  But you have
to use the smtps port, not the smtp port.  The smtp port does NOT support
any authentication methods.
