Kernel Naming

When you do a  "make dep" the include/linux/version.h file is written
with the information from the beginning of the
top level makefile.

VERSION = 2
PATCHLEVEL = 2
SUBLEVEL = 12
EXTRAVERSION = rrmsmp

 make dep

version.h  then contains


#define UTS_RELEASE "2.2.12rrmsmp"
#define LINUX_VERSION_CODE 131596
#define KERNEL_VERSION(a,b,c) (((a) << 16) + ((b) << 8) + (c))


This should allow an any number of kernel configurations based on the
same source tree.
