The August issue of the IEEE Computer magazine has an article on Linux by 
Shahid Bokhari who is a professor of electrical engineering at the University 
of Engineering in Lahore, Pakistan. Shahid earned his MS and PHD degrees at 
Umass Amherst, and is also associated with NASA. The article explains how to 
obtain, install and run Linux. It also talks about networking, X Windows as 
well as some applications.
